TEAM AFRO & WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

Team Afro has been involved with esCarpade, raising funds for Camp Quality since 2011. Though the team has changed from year to year the philosophy remains the same, to raise as much as we can to support the programs that Camp Quality offer.

We have had personal experience in dealing with cancer and the difficult times that a diagnosis and treatment entails. It is through this experience that we are now committed to helping Camp Quality bring laughter into the lives of children living with cancer along with their families by participating in esCarpade.

Throughout this time we believed in the power of positive thinking and to remember to laugh at something each and everyday to cope with the tough days.

We have, along with our commitment to fundraising have recently completed volunteer training to become companions at Camp Quality camps and events. We believe in the work that Camp Quality does in helping children and their families have some relief from the sometimes trying times associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment.

esCarpade the major annual fundraiser for Camp Quality ,is an outback motoring adventure in which participants are encouraged to raise funds for Camp Quality along with visiting schools and promoting the work of Camp Quality.

Each year up to 80 cars and their crews , many of these entrants , who like the members of Team Afro , have regular jobs, families and commitments, yet still take time to raise funds for this worthwhile cause.

It is through people like you, who donate to our fundraising efforts that Camp Quality can continue to provide services by improving the quality of life for children living with cancer and their families through unrelenting optimism and the healing power of laughter.

AFRO UPDATE -

Things have been humming along well at Afro Headquarters.
Jupiter , our trusty ride is running well ( hope that doesn't jinx anything!!!).
Sean fro Whites Mechanical and the guys fro Carb & Gas have been working on her to get any issues sorted.

On the fundraising front - things are on the up , with Queensland Police Credit Union again coming on board as a supporter of the team.

Darren had always wanted a big cheque , not sure this exactly what he meant , but it just won't fir in his wallet.

We welcomed another supporter to the fold today .. thanks to Brenda Holland from BRENDA HOLLAND REALTY for her kind donation to our fundraising efforts.

We have still got some irons in the fire and just waiting to hear how some donations requests have been received - keep your fingers crossed for us.

Though Darren though he might try the emotional request - hey it works for dogs.

Darren is becoming a media star too, Trina has joked that maybe we should change the team name to "Team Media Tart" . As a committee member Darren has been asked to be the spokes person in QLD for a few media items.

For those in Southeast Brisbane - watch CITY SOUTH NEWS this week for our article - hopefully with photos - it will be a great laugh. Go Wyn !!!!

A few teams from Brisbane area have been approached to attend a photo shoot with Dick Johnson racing Team (DJR) in promotion of esCarpade.

So hopefully getting the car and our smiling faces out there we can drum up more and more sponsors for esCarpade---

Stay happy - and remember
